Ingram Micro Extends Global Relationship with AMD, Strenghthens Components Business

Adding to the distributor's growing components business,
Ingram Micro, Inc. today announced an expanded global agreement with Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. .

As part of the worldwide distribution relationship, Ingram Micro and AMD will work together to expand the manufacturer's footprint around the globe, building new customer relationships and generating demand in countries within Europe and the Americas, as well as select areas within Asia Pacific.

"As technology sales opportunities continue to increase in emerging regions, more and more manufacturers like AMD will seek out a global distribution partner to help them grow," said Greg Spierkel, president, Ingram Micro Inc. "As a global distributor with offices in North America, Latin America, EMEA and APAC, Ingram Micro not only expands a manufacturer's footprint, but our highly skilled marketing, tech support and sales teams help identify new sales opportunities and increase demand with proven precision and accuracy."

The global agreement provides a flexible framework for both parties to target new markets and broaden reach within the existing regions that Ingram Micro services. Value Added Resellers (VARs) and system integrators in the expanded territories will gain access to new AMD technologies and benefit from the one-stop components and computer products shopping experience Ingram Micro provides. In addition, the combined marketing and sales teams will work together to sell in-demand technologies including
AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Opteron processors, the first processors designed to deliver full compatibility with existing x86 solutions and simultaneous 32- and 64-bit performance.

"AMD's industry-leading performance in x86 processors helps our channel customers realize a high return on investment and optimize the configuration of highly competitive systems around the world," said Henri Richard, chief sales and marketing officer, AMD. "By expanding our relationship with Ingram Micro, we will not only continue to grow our success in global channel markets, but also improve our overall sales, marketing and technical support by leveraging Ingram Micro's existing global relationships with thousands of manufacturers, retailers and solution providers."

"Ingram Micro is pleased to call AMD a global partner," commented Spierkel. "Our components business represents a worldwide growth initiative for Ingram Micro. We will continue to invest in our partners and look for ways to expand relationships with manufacturers like AMD and offer solution providers a full line card that supports their customer needs."
