In an internal document named "Effective Sign Extension Elimination" coming from the IBM Tokyo Research Laboratory is describing some of the particularities of shifting the JIT compiler from 32 to 64bit platforms.
Best of all, the chapter "Handling of Array Suscript" tells the reader that all three 64bit chips (Sledgehammer, PowerPC 64 and Itanium) are taken into account as it's shown in the copy located below.
With the recent DB2 announcement it sounds like another proof of IBM support for the AMD's x86-64 platform and this is rather good news...
