Today the company says why and it sounds like honey in AMD's fans' hears: "Fed up with the cost of updating software and drivers with every Intel chip update, a regional utility is switching to Compaq PCs running chips from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Northeast Utilities plans to buy 2,000 Compaq D315s by 2005, possibly saving Northeast $1 million".
