- AMD exec president of the HTT Consortium
HyperTransport Technology, today announced the election of David Rich, AMD Director of Business Development and Support, Boston Design Center, as President of the Consortium, reporting to the Consortium’s Board of Directors. Mr. Rich succeeds Gabriele Sartori, VP of Marketing at Luxtera, Inc., whose term as President of the Consortium ended in December 2004. Read more here

AMD India and CRN, local IT media, are joining forces to invent the dumberst  contest on Earth. Called India's Best System Builder, the competition ask you to build a PC and to send it at your own expense for an undisclosed period, at the jury's place and, best of all, if you are a lucky winner, you will never see your PC again as said in the FAQ: "If you are amongst the regional winners, your PC will not be returned to you. - Soitec signs multi-year agreement with AMD
The Soitec Group today announced the signing of an agreement with AMD for a long-term supply of UNIBOND silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, projected to total more than $50 million for 2005 alone, Soitec will supply AMD with both 200- and 300mm SOI wafers, manufactured using Soitec's proprietary Smart Cut process. Following the 25W low-power version, PC Watch
here announces the arrival in Tokyo ot the, 62W bulk version of Socket 754 mobile Sempron 2600+, 2800+ and 3000+ at a price ranging from 10800 to 14800 Yen. The site also mention the delivery of the first Pentium 4 sporting EMT64 instruction and running at 3.80GHz. This ugly chip is here and PC Watch mentions that none are yet for sale...

- Sauber installed ALBERT computer
We announced
here that more than 500 Opteron have been sold to F1 Team Sauber Petronas for studying the aerodynamics of the latest Sauber and  today we have more about the ALBERT computer made of all those Opteron: "The supercomputer was built by the Swiss company DALCO and has a total of 530 AMD Opteron processors installed in High-Density Cooling Enclosures supplied by American Power Conversion (APC). - Spansion honored by Lenovo for flash in China
Spansion received the Best Supplier award at Lenovo Mobile Communication Technology's 2004 supplier conference. This event was the first of its kind held by Lenovo and drew hundreds of suppliers who offered up a wide range of products for review. Only ten companies were ultimately selected as award winners, with Spansion beating all other top Flash memory vendors to win the honor. - AMD updates 4th quarter 2004 outlook
AMD today announced sales for the fourth quarter ended December 26, 2004 are expected to be up slightly from the $1.239 billion reported in the third quarter.  Fourth quarter operating income is anticipated to be positive, but down significantly from third quarter operating income of $68.4 million due to an operating loss of the Memory Group.

- Low Power mobile Sempron 2600+ in Japan The 25W mobile Sempron at 1.6GHz and rated 2600+ is now arrived in Akihabara Tokyo. The 90nm chip with OPN SMS2600BOX2LB is a revision D with a 128KB L2 cache, supports PowerNow! for a better power management and is selling for around 12000 Yen (115$).
