- Notebook: Compaq versus Compaq
Thanks to Psy we have a link to an interesting review at French TT-Hardware, where two Compaq laptops face each other. Both Presario looks alike but run different chip as the Presario 920EA is Athlon XP 2000+ powered while the 1525EA uses a Pentium 4 at 2.4GHz. The scores of both machines are quite near but the AMD Athlon XP manages to gains reviewer's heart with a 300$ lower price tag than opponent Intel. Read that here

- MSI K7N2-L nForce2 mainboard review
nForce2 southbridge comes in two flavors: The MCP-T, first, sports SoundStorm, IEEE 1394 Firewire and DualNet while second, MCP, does not have any of this extra features. MCP is targeting low cost motherboard market like the MSI K7N2-L tested at HardwareZone here where its stability is said to be incredibly good: "The K7N2-L was found to be extremely stable at its maximum FSB allowable in the BIOS – at a whopping 200MHz"

- Box seats for IBM vs. Intel
We all remember the January 8 announcement that IBM Microelectronics would work with AMD on process technology development at the 65-nm and 45-nm nodes, and David Lammers at EETimes share his opinion about this meaningful partnership: "So we have AMD and IBM combining their respective strengths against Intel, which is still twice as big in terms of chip revenue. Samsung Electronics announced the development of the world's fastest DDR3 SRAM with

1.05 HyperTransport Technology I/O Link Specification. This new release defines several important
new
HyperTransport technology features, including a
new HyperTransport switch function, enhanced PCI-X 2.0 interworking support, increased concurrency and 64-bit addressing. The new specification extends the set of electrical and protocol definitions and enables a new class of HyperTransport-based products. Read more
