- nVidia lost MSI to ATI
nVidia estimates trimmed on large design loss. Friedman, Billings, Ramsey has learned that nVidia has lost a large design win at MSI (one of its largest customers) to ATI; firm now believes that other designs at MSI are at risk, given that they had been an nVidia-exclusive customer; additionally, firm believes nVidia's new GeForce FX line will ramp more slowly than expected due to low yields on both discrete and board-level products.

- AMD regains PC processor market share
AMD regained market share from larger rival Intel in the fourth quarter, market researcher IDC said. AMD's market share rose to 15.4 percent at the end of the fourth quarter, compared with 83.3 percent for Intel, IDC analyst Shane Rau said. AMD ended 2002 with 2.7 percent more market share from the end of the third quarter, the report said. Read the story here
