Earlier news here _____________________________________________ 03/18/03 - CeBIT 2003 coverages It's has been the most covered CeBIT ever and, thanks to lots of hardware sites from around the world, we could have visited the whole show without leaving our favorite basement... Today, the last we were aware of, are trully great. The first from French Info-G here, is a 14 pages heaven just like Guru3D here where graphics cards are shining like sequins in the sun... Enjoy! _____________________________________________ 03/18/03 - Thorton: new Athlon core... Hiroshige's Goto Weekly overseas news has always a truckload of great details about AMD's roadmap. Today the report here has a new Athlon XP core named Thorton, some news about FSB at 400Mhz on XP and Athlon 64 plus hints about the 1MB L2 version of the Athlon 64 code named Paris just like Sanders' daughter _____________________________________________ 03/18/03 - Abit NF7-S nForce2 motherboard review A little nForce2 action today with the latest AMD World Abit NF7-S review from which we skilfully extracted the following: "Perhaps the ABIT offers that bit more than the competitors we have looked at in the past and certainly the audio and SATA inclusive options make it a worthwhile consideration". _____________________________________________ 03/18/03 - DDR433 PC3500 reviews The DDR marketing battle seems to move on the 433Mhz front and most of the reviews coming in are PC3500 related. The first one is a 'world exclusive' from OCTools here where the Mushkin EMS 3500 is thoroughly tested. The second, a Kingston HyperX 512 DDR PC3500 review, comes from OCA here while third and final, a Corsair XMS PC 3500 from IP Konfig awaits here _____________________________________________ 03/17/03 - CeBIT coverage update More coverages from CeBIT are now gathered in our CeBIT 2003 Special. First, part 3 of the excellent report from Techseekers here, second, part 4 of the giant Hardwareluxx photo gallery here and third, the special Asus site that has been specially created for CeBIT here _____________________________________________ 03/17/03 - KT400A chipset quick look Our friend at A1 Electronics has posted a special page about VIA KT400A chipset you might enjoy here _____________________________________________ 03/17/03 - Opteron release schedule After announcing here that Athlon 64 could come out earlier than previously stated, we have now the 'unofficial' Opteron schedule which shows that AMD is dead serious about storming the server market with models ranging from 1 to 8-way. Read the detail here _____________________________________________ 03/16/03 - Awesome FAQ at HWFAQ Some hardware sites strive to provide their readers with the best access to very specific information. HWFAQ is one of those with more than 2000 links that send you to whatever useful you could need: OC, RAID, LAN, case, sound, Linux, HD, etc. It's fast and convenient, it's here! _____________________________________________ 03/15/03 - Sun: no Opteron plan at all... Ace's Hardware has the epilog of one of the oldest rumor in the business: "I met at CEBIT with Brian Healy, Nathalie Nann and Joachim Steffen from SUN and they were able to confirm to me that SUN has no Opteron plans at all. The strategy of SUN is to offer datacenters a total solution: low cost x86 blade servers run the applications that are the most cost effective with 32 bit work while the 64 bit UltraSPARC processors find a home in the big fat 64 bit servers". Read the rest here _____________________________________________ 03/15/03 - Modding Seminar in Oregon Twistedmods is holding a case modding seminar during a 500 person LAN in Portland, Oregon on July 3-6, 2003 We encourage ANYONE to come and have some fun... as well as get in on some good giveaway action! Look for the program at Twistedmods here _____________________________________________ 03/15/03 - Enchanted April Opteron hymn at InfoWorld where Tom Yager is lyrical about new AMD's weapon to come out in April: "Microsoft has repeatedly stated that it strongly prefers AMD's 64-bit architecture to Intel's. Opteron is not stuck in the same spot as Intel at the launch of Itanium. Intel had to wait for Microsoft to announce its Itanium-specific port of Windows . Opteron already runs 32-bit Windows at full speed, while other 64-bit CPUs must use emulation to run most Windows software" _____________________________________________ 03/15/03 - CeBIT 2003 more coverages This CeBIT looks to be the best AMD CeBIT ever. Motherboards, barebones, processors and notebooks shown the unquestionable return of AMD after ugly 2002 during which the company lost such huge amount of money.
