- Windows 64-Bit for Opteron on April 21st!
C't announces in its 'Processor Whisper' reports here than Microsoft will officialy launch Windows XP Server 2003 Version for 64-Bit Opteron on the 21st of April  which is exactly one day before the official AMD chip's launch. This news comes as a big surprise after EETimes announced yesterday here than 64-Bit Windows wasn't going to show up before later this year of 2004

- Athlon XP Barton FSB 400MHz
The chance to see a
Barton XP 3000+ with a front side bus at 400MHz are high and PCstats is anticipating with a comparison between the 333MHz version and the 400MHz ones: "raising the Athlon's bus speed from 333MHz to 400MHz can bring some fairly hefty performance increases, and hopefully this can hold AMD over till the Athlon64 is ready". Following the trend of stylish boards and packages, Soyo has released a black version of the successful KT400 Dragon Ultra. Bjorn3D here has this black beauty under microscope and here what he has to say: "Overall the SY-KT400 DRAGON Ultra is a good buy. Soyo has managed to create a very good package. - Athlon XP hidden power
Xbitlabs found a PHP script at Bloodys here that turns the user unfriendly markings from any Athlon XP based processor to human readable information such as CPU frequency, FSB, operating voltage, L1 and L2 cache size, multiplier and so on. One of the most useful function is that the script automaticaly identifies weather the CPU core is Palomino, Thoroughbred (A or B revision) or the newest one,  Barton. With this awesome script you might discover that your Athlon is more powerful than you thought it was (due to AMD's downgrade).

here gives some details about nVidia nForce chipsets for Athlon 64. According to the report, they will be, not two as previously revealed, but three of them: K8, K8G, and K8S. This last one is a new reference which will target enthusiast and gamer market with a Front Side Bus (FSB) at 1.6GHz!

CeBIT, Brother Mike has some of the most exciting revelations about what's happening backstage. According to his report here, AMD and nVidia are preparing a Pentium killer that would be a combination of a nForce2 FSB 400MHz and Barton making the whole, able to take a 15 to 18% lead in current benchmarks!
