- IBM blades, Chips shine in 2004, Cell, etc.
While we keep on updating the Cebit 2005 coverage special
here, IBM confirms to The Street here, its intention to deliver Opteron blade servers to fulfill the growing "interest" from the financial institutions. Obviously the CELL chip from Big Blue isn't yet powerful enough to get rid of competitors and AnandTech here has an deep tech dive that should help the dummiest among us. On the chip market front, the most recent iSuppli study revealed that chip sector shined in 2004. We have it here with the latest rank of the 20 biggest and being first won't spare Intel from risking truckloads of trouble in Japan as explained here. Now if you are a smart integrator you are hottly  requested to read the Wash Tech here to update your "64-bit migration how to" red book before we start talking of 128-bit! Talking of future, it look like Phoronix' Michael here has put his hands on the case of tomorrow. The Sytrin Nextherm ICS 8200, is a hell of a box with all the bell and whistles you could expect from a first class case, plus an exclusive build-in A/C cooling that looks simply amazing! Good day all!
