The board named KM18G-Pro in running on a nForce2-G (IGP+MCP) and has lot of interesting features as you may discover here ====================================== 03/25/03 - Faster chipsets coming The Barton with FSB at 400MHz is going to ignite a chipset war between nVidia, SiS and Via. As we know, chipset makers enjoys fat margins with Socket A chipset which stimulates their appetite as we can read in two reports respectively at DigiTimes here and ZDNet here ====================================== 03/25/03 - Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Ultra board review This is one very impressive board. The 7VAXP Ultra has everything you could ask for from USB and IEEE 1394 to FSB333 and stylish looks. It comes with a great bundle of accessories and utilities as well as Norton Antivirus. The board overclocks very well but is quite limited when it comes to overclocking settings like CPU frequency and voltage. TwistedMods is testing it here ====================================== 03/25/03 - Athlon XP 3000+ processor review The fastest x86 processor on earth is having its 37th and worst review at Active-Hardware here. The reviewer seems to have organized everything to enhance Intel's baby performances much further than anything we ever found in the 36 reviews we have here. The conclusion also, is a true masterpiece of neutrality and deserves the jury's mention: "it looks like AMD will have to content themselfs by eating the dust of Intel processors." ====================================== 03/25/03 - Barton & nForce2 FSB at 400MHz official! HardOCP has the scoop and it comes from official Abit USA forum where the following post leaves no doubt: "Those (NF7-S v2.0) just arrived in the warehouse. AFAIK, the only difference is that it uses the NVIDIA Crush 18D chipset instead of the Crush 18 and the only difference is that the v2.0 has OFFICIAL 400Mhz Barton support". According to the same source, the board crashed at 205GHz and won't overclock as well as the previous versions. At Bunny's SuperPi database here, the best PCs are fighting for the first place, now property of an Athlon XP 2800+'s slightly overclocked at 3.4GHz with a FSB at 231GHz. Running at such speed, the animal was able to calculated pi number with ONE MILLION decimals in just 31 seconds! The second is a P4 at 4.6GHz which requested 33 seconds for the same task. ====================================== 03/24/03 - NASA adopts AMD Athlon MP The Mars Space Flight Facility's new BladeRack is a 50-node, dual AMD MP 2000+ processor-powered system, running Red Hat Linux Version 7.3. This powerful BladeRack system will enable the researchers to translate the continuous flow of raw data that is being gathered from instruments on NASA satellites orbiting Mars into clean images that are suitable for study. Athlon XP-M, low consumption chips for thin and light notebooks, and the specific approach of the 64Bit market with Opteron are among the most inovative assets of the company which leads it to declare: "there is more innovation and deeper strategy in AMD's approach than most appreciate".
