04/08/03 - Homemade harddrive cooler mod
Many of you have heard of a harddrive
cooler before, but most pre-made ones cost up to 40 dollars! Usually these can be seen by companies like Thermaltake, Enermax and many others, but TweatedMod found a cheap way to make the same product. The total cost of this project ranges between $10-$15, but it's well worth the money, especially if you run SCSI HD which can often run hot and increase case temperatures...get some air flowing on those harddrives and save that lifespan here!

04/07/03 - Intel and VIA Settle patent suits' series
Intel and VIA said they have settled a series of patent infringement lawsuits. The agreement, whose financial terms were not disclosed, resolves 11 pending cases in 5 countries involving 27 patents. Both companies have entered into a 10-year cross licensing agreement under the deal. Intel sued VIA in 09/01 alleging patent infringement and VIA counter sued, claiming that Intel  processors infringed on patents VIA acquired in connection with its acquisition of IDT's Centaur subsidiary.

04/07/03 - AMD & Lynx signed Opteron partnership
ZDNet Germany reports on a dealed signed between Lynx distributor and AMD for the semi-exclusive
Opteron distribution in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. According to the same report, Lynx will have to share this exclusivity with CMS, Italian computer maker, with no exact mention about their respective territory. Read the whole story here

HardOCP has done the daunting task of buying and
overclocking three Athlon XP 2500+ Barton core on a Asus A7N8X nForce2 motherboard. The conclusion is worth a read. All Barton (is this the contraction of Bart Simpson BTW?) are not born equal but they all overclock pretty well as explained here and nowhere else!

OCworkbench has the scoop and proves it
here. According to some exclusive WCPUID shots the FIC AU13 supports a FSB as high as 200.45MHz (which makes 400.9 in both directions) without yelling for help!

It's now proven than some
Athlon XP 1700+ have a overclocking power trully amazing. Hexus has the detail here and according, to the report, stepping  JIUHB and AIUHB can easily have their speed increased of a whopping 800MHz with "moderate cooling"!
