AMD's Opteron 150 and 250 processors
Today's release of Opteron 150, 250, 850 is another strong sign of AMD supremacy and the first report we have from Tech Report is eloquent: "For single-processor systems, the Opteron 150 looks like the fastest x86 CPU on the planet. 05/17/04 - Goldman Sachs upgrades AMD
Citing better than expected AMD64 results,
mirrorbit potential and fast 90nm transition, Goldman Sachs has upgraded AMD from In-line to Outperform with an CY05 EPS of .99$: " We also believe that AMD’s flash business can contribute meaningfully to profits in 2004 due to the low cost architecture of MirrorBit and the aggressive transitions to 110nm and 90nm. The increase in Street estimates could begin with Q204, as we believe AMD’s guidance for a decline in microprocessor sales in 2Q may prove conservative".

Inquirer reports today that Intel's ingineers are not all sleeping and counter-AMD emergency division (probably outsourced in Bangalore) is stretching the limits with a FSB at 1066MHz (we said MHz not degrees!): "We just  learned minutes ago that Intel will release a new CPUs that will use a 1066 MHz front side bus (FSB). This means that the FSB will get increased from initial 200 MHz times four to 266 MHz times four. This means a potentially very big huge performance boost.". Read at the inquirer here
