- AMD’s Opteron 242 In The Real World
"As for the benchmarks we did run, we see tremendous potential in AMD's K8 architecture. Despite having drastically low clock speeds for a new processor, the Opteron 242 can rival Xeon's 3.06 GHz and beat it in many benchmarks. The Opterons on-die memory controller appears to be extremely efficient, and the 1MB of on-die L2 cache can really help application performance across the board.".
