06/19/03 - Athlon 64 shipments in August...
"
According to AMD, it has not changed the launch schedule. However, sources at first-tier motherboard companies such as Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology confirmed that AMD disclosed that it will begin supplying two desktop-use Athlon 64 processors, the 3100+ and 3400+, in August. However, given that shipments will reach only a projected 200,000-300,000 units by year-end, board makers expect little impact on Pentium 4-platform products in the short run". 06/17/03 - New AMD trademark spotted at USPTO
If you are familiar with words' structure, you should be pretty excited with the latest, and still unknown, trademark coming from AMD. The mark is "SPANSION" and this time, AMD's brand name gurus are not betting on latin, like with Duron or Opteron, to coin this unique word compression that specialists currently call portemanteau (hanger in French). AMDboard, where linguists and fortune tellers are gathered for the sake of humanity's future, are delivering some suppositions about the enigma that could change the computer world for good. So, don't miss out this new chapter in trademark decyphering and accronymic dismantling: It's history in the making and it's here!

- AMD on a French Perfume!

06/16/03 - Success starts with pride, CEO says
"When Hector Ruiz, the chief executive of Advanced Micro Devices, was a young graduate student at Rice University in Houston in the 1960s, he used to hide from the school's Latino groundskeepers. Ruiz, who grew up in a border town in Mexico, was one of only two Latino students at the school and did not want to flaunt his status in front of the blue-collar workers."
