- More Opteron servers coming
Two great news about ithe ncreasing demand for Opteron: CNET "Sun Microsystems plans to announce on Sept. 12 its "Galaxy" line of AMD Opteron-based servers, a product family developed by hardware guru Andy Bechtolsheim that's a central part of the company's recovery plan" and Heise " Now, AMD has even convinced Fujitsu-Siemens: after satisfactory experience with Opterons in the Celsius workstation series and HPC clusters (HPCline), Fujitsu-Siemens plans to offer the competitor of Intel's Xeon in the Primergy server series."

After AMD filed a 64 pages antitrust complaint against Intel's practices, the latter is answering in a 63-page document filed in US District Court in Delaware, that it is as innocent as a new born lamb as you may find out in the list of headllines located here. Of course it didn't take long to AMD to remind Intel about the long list of antitrust actions taken in countries like Korea, Japan, and all those federated in the European Community, all in an short answer available here

- 1200 Sun V40Z servers for Korean Schools
Sun today announced it has been selected as the leading system supplier for the Korean National Education Information System (NEIS) project. Sun will provide 1,200 Sun Fire V40z x64 (x86, 64-bit) servers equipped with the AMD Opteron processor, and 200 Sun Fire V440 and V240 SPARC-based servers running the Solaris 10 Operating System (OS) to elementary, middle and high schools around the country. NEIS chose Sun's Solaris OS and Sun Fire servers for its scalability and reliability, committing 70% of its total project hardware budget to Sun. Read more here

After signing up with USAF (see here) duo inferno HP & AMD could be very near some unprecedented Fortune 500 companies Turion laptop wins as reported at ZDNet today:
