- More endorsement for AMD dual-core
AMD today announced software support from Novell, Red Hat and Sun for AMD64 multi-core technology and recommended ISVs license software applications by socket. This follows a recent demonstration of the industry’s first x86 dual-core processor last week at AMD's Austin facilities where four x86-based dual-core Opteron powered an HP ProLiant DL585 server. Sun prepares first Opteron blade server
Recent Studies say that blade server is the next big thing and after we published the first Tatung blade board specs here, Tech-World announces a Sun Opteron blade server for 2005: "The blade systems, which will become available in limited quantities in the first half of 2005, will be based on the AdvancedTCA telecommunications equipment spec developed by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturing Group, said Mark Butler, marketing manager for Netra systems and networking products with Sun". First the HDAMD, a dual-Opteron motherboard from Rioworks which, according to our source, could be pretty similar to the HDAMC. Second news is about two news Socket 754 Sempron rated 3000+ and 3200+ running respectively at 1.7GHz and 1.9GHz.

As usual we got the news from Akiba sites where it is said that Sempron 2200+ SDA2200DUT3D and Sempron 2300+ SDA2300DUT3D have arrived in Akihabara wonderland at a price that should not exceed 6000 Yen (54$) which will definitely attract lot of savvy buyers. - Scientists set Internet2 speed record
Internet News reports about an amazing world record that wouldn't be possible without AMD Opteron: "The team, which included folks from AMD, Cisco, Microsoft Research, Newisys, and S2io, transferred 859 gigabytes of data in less than 17 minutes. It did so at a rate of 6.63 gigabits per second (define) between the CERN facility in Geneva, Switzerland, and Caltech in Pasadena, Calif., a distance of more than 9,800 miles". Read more here
