- More about AMD market share
Thanks to Bradley, we have now two links to AMD vs. Intel market share. The first, here, is about the evolution of retail desktop where AMD recently grabbed a hefty 54% vs. 45% for Intel, and the second, here, shows the overall CPU market share of each contenders with AMD at 15.5%, Intel at 82.7% (including xbox) and 1.8% to VIA and Transmetta.

AMD new low-power Geode processor
AMD announced the most recent addition to its AMD Geode NX family of high-performance, low-power processors, the AMD Geode NX 1250@6W(a) processor. Based on the x86 architecture, the new processor is designed for solutions that require long-term market commitment such as thin clients, printers, point of sale, information and transaction kiosks and  telecommunications networking equipment. The AMD Geode NX 1250@6W processor is compatible with the AMD Geode NX 1500@6W(a) processor and AMD Geode NX 1750@14W(a) processor. Read the news here

- World first 8-way Opteron server
After VT64 Opteron Server 4000, 4-way Opteron server,  Visual Technology Corporation announced the world first 8-way on-board Opteron server. Controled by updated version of AMD 8111/8131/8151 chipset, the server accept up to 64GB of DDR 333. Unlike the 4000 which was using a Tyan 4-Way board, the 8000 use an in-house motherboard design made of a main board that can accept 4 processor cards with 2 Opteron each. - AMD ships 90nm processors
Six months only after Intel did, AMD is now shipping 90nm Athlon 64 mobile processor rated 3700+ as reported in eWeek: "Notebooks containing AMD's mobile Athlon 64 processor 3700+ include the HP Pavilion zv5000z and Compaq Presario R3000Z, as well as VoodooPC's line of ENVY notebooks. The chip, priced at an even $500, is immediately available". More of  the good news here

VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for  Windows platforms, licensed under the GNU General Public License. It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. Opteron Blades and servers from HP are expected to popup  in a very near future as reported in The Register: "On the blade front, HP will come out with the BL25p, BL35p and BL45p systems - all with Opteron processors The BL25p will debut late this year or early next year with 2.4GHz Opterons, and the BL35p will arrive at the same time but at half the size of the BL25p".
