- Spansion and Atheros team up
Spansion and Atheros today announced they have developed an innovative packaging solution designed to significantly reduce the size of today’s dual-mode Cellular/Wireless LAN (WLAN) mobile phones. The packaging solution vertically stacks the Atheros Radio-on-Chip for Mobile (ROCm) 802.11a/g and 802.11g solutions with Spansion MirrorBit Flash memory. This solution enables handset manufacturers to provide valuable new services, such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and WLAN data connectivity for fast download of content such as ring tones, music, video clips, games, and email, in very small form factors. AMD announced that its AMD64 Longevity program for high-end embedded solutions, which guarantees processor availability for at least 5 years, has expanded to include two additional low-power AMD64 processors based on AMD's successful mobile products. - Sun agressive advertising targets Dell
With the release of the new SunFire range, Sun is heavily advertising its new motto: "cheaper, faster, cooller than anything Dell has to offer". - BenQ to cooperate with AMD on notebook
Willing to increase Joybook production, BenQ announces its intention to cooperate with AMD, DigiTimes reports today: "BenQ’s aim is to push its shipments of Joybook notebooks to 220,000-240,000 units in 2005, to 500,000 units in 2006, and to one million units in 2007, the sources noted. BenQ shipped about 100,000 Joybooks in 2004.". More here
