- SiS to replace SiS746DX with SiS756FX
To make sure they can compete with Via and nVidia on the FSB front, SiS decided to dump the SiS746 and SiS746 in order to leave an empty space for a revamped version called SiS746FX. According to Xbitlabs which has the story
here, this latest chipset is going to be mass produced during October.

- IBM joins 64-Bit desktop PC strategy
ElectronicNews on IBM 64-Bit PowerPC release at the Microprocessor Forum in San Jose is telling about the 64-Bit situation and the two camps that are now clearly facing each other: " He added that AMD's Hammer processors would be able to perform more work per clock cycle and thus improve performance without dramatic increases in processor frequency"
