On Wednesday, Dell President Kevin Rollins indicated that the company intends to remain an Intel-only shop. Dell offers servers based on Intel's 64-bit Itanium chips, but AMD's new processors handle both 32-bit and 64-bit software.". The madshrimps men bought one of them, the 1.6 ghz version. The most interesting part of this cpu is its core voltage, only 1.5 V. This cpu begged to be compared with an Athlon XP, dlt3c (known for reaching speeds up to 2700Mhz!). Is the new Duron an equally good overclocker ? Maybe even better ? Find out in this review at MadShrimps __________________________________________ 10/09/03 - AMD Athlon 64 Utilities and upgrade page AMD just set up a Athlon 64 utilities and upgrade page here where some interesting stuff can be found. Most exciting of all is probably the "Cool'n'Quiet" utility which, according to AMD, allows the system to dynamically and automatically select the CPU speed, Voltage and Power combination that match the instantaneous user perfomance need. These changes can happen as often as 30 times per second. __________________________________________ 10/08/03 - Motherboard and barebone review of the day 1 - BIOSTAR K8VHA Pro VIA K8T800 at OCworkbench 2 - Shuttle SN85G4 Athlon 64 barebone at HardOCP 3 - Abit KV7II VIA KT880 Chipset specs at AMDboard 4 - MSI K8T Neo vs. shuttle AN50R at Computerbase __________________________________________ 10/07/03 - Latest Athlon 64 3200+ and FX-51 reviews 1 - Athlon 64 3200+ & MSI K8T Neo at Hardware-Test 2 - Athlon 64 3200+ & Gigabyte K8VNXP at Hardwarezoom 3 - Athlon 64 3200+ & AN50R & EPoX 8HDA3+ at Hexus 4 - Athlon 64 FX-51 & Asus SK8N at TweakPC 5 - Athlon 64 FX-51 & Asus SK8N at Hexus __________________________________________ 10/07/03 - UBS upgrade AMD! UBS upgrades upgrades to Neutral from Reduce and raises their target to $12 from $5; firm believes that AMD's flash business is doing well this quarter, and that investors will be focusing on breakeven and Athlon 64 units in 2004 rather than processor share losses, which should continue through 2004. __________________________________________ 10/07/03 - Now AMD Official Support Forum! While Kyle visits AMDboard, Gilles goes to HardOCP and discover with amazement that AMD has made its own self personal homemade forum: "AMD has taken a page from the book that the hardware community wrote. They now have support forums for their processors. Of course many of us have done this for years and never asked for a dime from AMD in return.". While 939 will let four layer FX boards come to market, we are sorry to say that there is no magic pin that will bring this about. The 939 socket is a complete redo of socket 940.".
