11/06/02 - Global semi sales up 1.8% in 2002
Things are getting better on the semi's front. After 2002 sales are up 1.8% and Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) forecast a hefty 23.2% increase sales for 2003 and 20.9% for 2004! 
"The long-awaited recovery is under way" said Jerry Sanders "we believe the next several years will see steady growth following the industry's steepest-ever decline in 2001" Read it here

- AMD major Italian government win
AMD today announced that Consip, the Italian Ministry of Treasury department responsible for the procurement of goods and services, has chosen computer based on  Athlon XP processor in a large government tender. CDC, a leading manufacturer of desktop PCs in Italy, is expected to provide Consip over 30,000 personal computers based on the AMD Athlon XP processor 1800+ for their range of systems available for online ordering by all national and local government bodies in Italy. - XP 2600+ FSB 333MHz confirmed
Christy Lee at DigiTimes confirms what was in the air for a week or two. AMD is going to produce Athlon with FSB333 and XP 1700+ at .13µ. This will allow lower production cost and therefore a more agressive price cut (after P4 3.06GHz launch) that should bring back the lost market shares. Read

- Athlon XP 2400+ at 2.8GHz
Oppainter at the Xtremesystem forum is showing a fresh WCPUID screenshot of an Athlon running at a cool 2810.48MHz with a system bus at 374.73MHz!
The trick was done using a good old
